The best place to start researching the law of a foreign country is the Foreign Law Guide. The Foreign Law Guide is a database of information on the sources of foreign law and structure of foreign legal systems.

  • Search by country or subject
  • Contains background information and guides to each country's legal history, legislation, and judicial system
  • Details the names and sources of law in each country, as well as secondary materials for further research

A print edition of Foreign Law Guide was published from 1989-2007 and is available in Smith (K38 .R49x).

Check out the Library's Introduction to Foreign Legal Research for more guidance in researching foreign law.
