Many legal dictionaries, including Black's Law Dictionary, Prince's Dictionary of Legal Abbreviations, and Elsevier's Legal Dictionary: In English, German, French, Dutch, and Spanish, are available in the Reference Collection on Sub-1, located behind the Information Desk.

MLaw students also have access to Black's Law Dictionary in their Westlaw accounts.

  • To see what dictionaries are available in the Law Library collection, perform an advanced search of the MLaw Catalog, and include the keyword "Dictionary."
  • To locate only electronic dictionaries, select "Web" from the Location drop down menu.
  • If you are looking for a legal dictionary online, check out the Oxford Reference Library: Law database. This e-resource is a fully indexed, cross-searchable database of dictionaries, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press on the subject of Law.
