For Creators

If you have general questions about copyright, the University of Michigan Copyright Office has a webpage with many useful resources, including information on Creative Commons, Open Access, and Rights Reversion, among others.

They also host workshops, allow scheduled appointments for in-person consultations, and maintain an online guide for common copyright questions.

If you are an author and want to ensure you maintain certain rights for a publication, consider adding a University of Michigan Author's Addenda to your publisher's agreement.

For Students

See our Treatise Finder page on Copyright for scholarly resources.

Copyright is an issue with regard to scanning services. Generally, our scanning department can only scan ~10% of a book (or ~1 chapter) to stay within the limits of copyright.
